Another dumb lyric I wrote last year that I put music to and decided to put on the EP. I thought it was time that someone rhymed "bottle" with "Aristotle".
lyrics
Verse 1
C# D#m
Your story is relatable
G# F#
but I think it’s lost its plot
D# A#m
Your words are understandable
G# F#
but the meaning is not
You might as well be speaking
an entirely different language
when I can’t even tell
If you’re saying “bagel” or “sandwich”
Chorus
C# F#
Cuz every time you speak to me
G# F#
It always sounds like Greek to me
G#
and I can’t find the answers that I seek
C G#
Every time you say a word
F# G#
it always sounds strange and absurd
C# F# G#
and to me it might as well be Greek
Verse 2
You’re a philosopher
but I don’t understand how you think
your thoughts are not unthinkable
at least not when you drink
but you sound like a raving madman
with slurs straight from the bottle
You speak the language of Francis Bacon
but I could mistake you for Aristotle
Chorus 2
C# F#
Cuz every time you speak to me
G# F#
It always sounds like Greek to me
G#
and I can’t find the answers that I seek
C G#
Every time you say a word
F# G#
it always sounds strange and absurd
C# F# G# D#
and to me it might as well be Greek
Chorus 3 and 4
E A
Cuz every time you speak to me
B A
It always sounds like Greek to me
B
and I can’t find the answers that I seek
E A B
Every time you say a word
E A B
it always sounds strange and absurd
E A B (E)
and to me it might as well be Greek
