A Twitch in the Matrix
Verse 1
Spend your days walking round in circles
You barely do shit, you just work all
the time, it's such a waste
And all your left with is a bitter taste
And some say it's what getting older means
Burning out, letting go of all your dreams
And mental decline, I forgot who sent ya
Maybe it's just a case of early dementia
Chorus
Because we go through stages
Do the same act
Re-write the same pages
We jump, we run, we sing, we kick the ball
Until our lives become predictable
Verse 2
My life use to feel like a three minute itch
Now it feels more like a ten month twitch
And I can't help but feeling cheated
And it's not really my favorite feeling
And I continue to waste this doubt on
All the stupid shit that I missed out on
That is too late to finally take up
If I lived in a fantasy, it's time to wake up
We laugh, we clap, we pretend we care at all
Until our lives become unbearable

Survivors of Love

The Survivors of Love
Verse 1
When we survive the battles of love
Who will be left as winners?
We've been out in the trenches
going off our hinges
But the war will always be in us
When you have lowered your guard
and think "how did I let her in?"
and when you make truce
one of you will still lose
but you will both be a veteran
Chorus
In this infinite feud
That you fight without arms
You're never violent or crude
You fight it with all your charms
Who is left holding the bag?
Who is cloying and needy
Who will raise the white flag?
And beg for a treaty?
Verse 2
When we've survived the battles of love
Will we have taken prisoners?
You don't look the other way
And you hear what they say
But you're not exactly better listeners
And when she sits there on her horse
and thinks "how did I let him in?"
She's witty and pawky
thinks it's freedom talking
but really it's just the amphetamine
Verse 3
And when you meet on the saddles of love
And peace has become your language
will you talk it through
as you finally unscrew
and get rid of all the anguish
And when you sit by yourself with your mind
and ask "can I once again get her in?
Cuz despite all the hate you
can easier relate
to another love-veteran

Soul Proprietor
Verse 1
I hide deep inside you
I've crawled into your soul
Complete power
Absolute control
You've always known of it
I've taken ownership
You can't get me out
I'm hiding in the darkness, genuflect and bow
Chorus
Whether you think it's right
It'll never be wrong to me
The voices of your will
Have become quieter
I am the soul proprietor
And you belong to me
Verse 2
I've taken possession
Of your blood like a leech
You never seem to find me
But I'm always within reach
You're such a believer
You signed a waiver
A contract, where you gave it away
You know now I'm here to stay
Verse 3
It's written in blood
On paper and concrete walls
Total domination
An undisputed force
It might sound abusive
But my rights are exclusive
Memories of me, you breed them
You no longer have your freedom

Wiser than No one
03:34
|
|||
Wiser than no one
Everytime I see a list
of supermodels in magazines
am I an idealist
or just a grouchy realist
shitting on their teenage dreams?
Cuz I sometimes get rattled by my worldviews
My feed gets jammed up with bad news
Chorus
And if I'm the better man
why do i get through to so few?
am I one to understand
just how I think like I do?
Sure I ain't wiser than no one
and my thoughts have no value at all
But maybe I have plenty to go on
And I should keep on throwing myself the ball
I often used to think about
how the world could be arranged
but I still haven't figured out
how all my own fears and doubts
have made it so the goalposts have changed
Cuz the world is scary, evil and stupid
and it needs a change, but I'm not one to do it
Sometimes I think so critically
About all those that used to think the same as me

Sunday (Gatekeeper's Ball)
Verse 1
She thinks no work should be done
on the seventh day
She takes the day off to rest
it is heaven's way
Only commercial jingles:
that's pop music today
You can't go see a band play
If you only like the singles
Chorus
but
Sunday is her day of rest
The day she likes the best
Gatekeep, keep them all at bay
She's Schrodinger's incel, she's gonna scare them all away
Verse 2
If you've only read
The World According to Garp
or the Hotel New Hampshire
you'll never find your way to her heart
No second look
You're not deserving
of John Irving
if you only read his most famous book
Bridge
Turned down a jazz fan
didn't even know if he'd want her
Suppose you can say
she's got her honor
She ghosted him, but he is back to haunt her

Optimism Charter
Verse 1|
I tried to think about the good things
Whatever it would bring was not enough
The irony of being open-minded
My thoughts got blinded by bitter love
And if good things come to those who wait
I'll wait, I'll wait for another shot at it
And use my good intentions as bait,
It's good bait, but the takers have already had it
Verse 2
It's hard to focus on the bright side
When the dark sides seem so prevalent
I can't keep it out of my thought stream
When all my thoughts seem so irreverent
And if I always look upon the bright side
Of life, I might find a solace in this charter
And the evidence for the thesis I have tried
Are tight, so i might find the fall is almost harder
Verse 3
No matter what our love was
Can someone love us to some avail?
I guess that turned out bad too
So we just had to try to love ourselves, but we did failed
And despite our numerous attempts
It sempt we only learned our lessons once or twice
And if we have two lucky shots at amends
It meant that it all actually turned out quite nice
